How Much Should You Buy? A Party Supplies Sizing Guide

Not sure how much to buy for your child’s next birthday party? Here’s the quick math we use ourselves — and recommend to every party host who asks.

Tableware: Count Guests, Then Add 20%

Plates and napkins get dropped, doubled up, and grabbed by extra siblings. If you’re expecting 16 kids, a 16-count bundle is the bare minimum — sizing up to account for spills is always worth it.

Table Covers: One Per Table, Plus a Spare

Most of our table covers come in packs of two for exactly this reason — one for the main table, one for the snack or gift table (or a backup for spills).

Balloons: Think in Clusters

A single balloon looks sparse in photos. Clusters of 3-5 balloons around a doorway, chair, or dessert table read as “full party” without needing an arch.
